A manager for Randy Moss’s Crisppi’s chicken restaurant says sales are poor because the restaurant is Black-owned.

The NFL Hall of Famer opened his fast food restaurant in downtown Huntington, West Virginia four months ago.

The line was wrapped around the block when Crisppi’s Chicken restaurant celebrated its grand opening on December 15, 2023.

Crisppi’s fired all of its black employees. But Kurt said they quit because they could not “stand the pressure” of working hard or coming to work on time.

The manager, who only gave his first name “Kurt,” said the Black community is not supporting the business because it’s Black-owned.

In a Facebook video that went viral last week, Kurt said, “Great energy, great food. Randy Moss took his time out, invested his money… Since we’ve been here for the past few months it has been nothing but negativity from the community.”

He continued: “The entire community is filled with negativity. Being an African American company, this is what we deal with on a regular basis… Unfortunately, we’re not the other color, which is unfortunate to you guys. Because if we were the other color, I’m sure there would be a lot more respect.”

Kurt’s crabs in a barrel accusations sparked backlash in the community. But Kurt did not backtrack.

He went on a local podcast to bash the Black community for tearing down other Black people.

“What did our community do? They tore us down like they always do,” he said. “The African American community, we are known to tear each other down. The Chinese is not known for it, the Europeans — nobody else is known for it.”
