YouTuber Tasha K (right) lost part of her bankruptcy case in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Oct. 5.

A judge ruled that she is still on the hook for nearly $3.5 million awarded to rapper Cardi B last year.

In January 2022, Cardi B won a defamation lawsuit against Tasha K for waging a “malicious campaign” against her on YouTube and refusing the rapper’s multiple requests to take the videos down.

Cardi B was awarded a total of nearly $4 million in punitive damages and attorneys’ fees.

According to documents obtained by court reporter Meghann Cuniff, the bankruptcy court ruled that Tasha K can’t discharge nearly $3.5 million in punitive damages and post judgment interest.

Bankruptcy law prevents a debtor from discharging any debt for “willful and malicious injury”.

If Tasha’s actions were not found to be willful or malicious, she might have been able to discharge the debt in bankruptcy court.

According to Cuniff, the dispute is about the remaining $500,000 in punitive damages against Kebe Studios — not Tasha K personally.

A pretrial hearing on the $500,000 debt is scheduled for January 9, 2024 in Florida, where Tasha K currently resides.
