New Mexico prosecutors charged actor Alec Baldwin with manslaughter in the accidental shooting death of aspiring cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust” in 2021.

The decision to indict Baldwin (again) was announced on Friday, Jan. 19.

Prosecutors accuse Baldwin of pointing a prop gun at Hutchins and pulling the trigger on the set of his movie Rust on Oct. 21, 2021. She died from a single gunshot to the chest.

The indictment comes exactly 1 year after Baldwin, pictured with his wife, Hilaria, was indicted by the same New Mexico prosecutors on involuntary manslaughter charges.

The prosecutors dismissed the involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin in April 2023 after “new facts” surfaced.

Investigators said assistant director, David Halls, handed the loaded Colt .45 revolver to Baldwin before a rehearsal at Bonanza Creek Ranch, a popular movie location near Santa Fe, N.M.

Halls reached a plea deal to accept a misdemeanor charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon.

Detectives found live rounds mingled among the blank bullets on the set. Live rounds are forbidden on film sets in Hollywood.

“We look forward to our day in court,” said Baldwin’s attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, on Friday.

If convicted, Baldwin could face up to 18 months in prison. A trial date has not been set.

“We are looking forward to the criminal trial which will determine if he should be convicted for the untimely death of Halyna,” Gloria Allred, the lawyer for Hutchins’ family said in a statement Friday.

The film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was charged last year with involuntary manslaughter.

Her trial is set to begin Feb. 21. She has pleaded not guilty.
