PR Maven Diane Powell-Larche’ Dies


S.T.E.P.S. Event Planning

Public relations expert Diane Powell-Larche’ passed away in hospice after a battle with cancer on Friday, Jan. 12. She was 65.

Diane was the founder, President and CEO of Larche’ Communications LLC, a PR and marketing firm based in Atlanta.

She also wrote about community events in SW Atlanta for Patch.com and Atlanta Daily World.

Diane was the founder and president of the Greater Atlanta Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW).

In 1998, she was appointed by Dr. Dorothy I. Height to be the Chair of the NCNW African American Women’s Leadership Roundtable in 1998.

Diane was also a member of NCNW Affiliates Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Atlanta Alumnae Chapter, The Continental Societies Inc. and a lifelong member of The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs Inc.

Diane was former Vice President of Community Outreach for the Junior League of Atlanta; a charter member of the City of Atlanta Commission on Women and she served on the board of directors of the Lupus Foundation of America Georgia Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Atlanta Alumnae Chapter and League of Women Voters of Atlanta Fulton County.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Howard University. Her clients included HBO, Trumpet Awards Foundation, the Bahamas Consulate, Urban League, UNCF, Ford, Burger King and former NBA Stars Jason Terry and Jamal Crawford.

Prior to launching her own PR firm, Diane worked for State Farm Insurance for 20 years — half of which was in management.

Diane is survived by her husband Joseph Larche’. They were co-owners of specialty shoe store FootFittR on Briarcliff and Lavista Roads in Atlanta.

Diane’s good friend Jamahl King, of S.T.E.P.S. Event Planning Firm, is handling her homegoing service.
