R&B singer Monica and her children grace the cover of HelloBeautiful May Mother’s Day 2024 issue.

The Grammy Award winner discusses her journey through motherhood, performing in Nicki Minaj’s The Pink Friday 2 Tour, and her current romance.

In this HelloBeautiful.com cover story, the award-winning vocalist discusses opening up for Nicki Minaj, navigating motherhood, and dating an Alpha male.

Monica spoke with HelloBeautiful’s Editorial Director, Shamika Sanders, about joining Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2 World Tour.”

“Nicki has always been extremely supportive. She always shared stories about singing my records when she was younger. So, we established somewhat of a relationship early on. I would always reach out and say, ‘Thank you for the support’ and vice versa. And over the years we’ve talked back and forth many times. When Keisha and I recorded the record – that’s when the actual conversations about the ‘Pink Friday 2 Tour’ transpired.”

The veteran R&B singer provided an intimate glimpse into her role as a mother to her children Laiyah Brown, Romelo Hill, Rodney Hill III, and Monica’s stepson, Ramone Hill.

“It’s a level of happiness and joy and it’s the unconditional love that you just can’t find in other places,” she said.

Monica also shared details about her current relationship with Anthony “Ant” Wilson, an executive producer and manager of singer/songwriter Chris Brown.

“In my relationship now, I don’t have to take over. I don’t have to overthink anything really. I can just be myself, express myself, explain what’s happening in my daily life, and he just fixes it. The most important thing about him that I think people would be surprised because he’s so stern in business, is that he is the ultimate family man.”

She continued: “He can tell you where all of my children are most of the day. He loves to make sure that his relationship with them is intact. Not in a way that seems forced, but natural. Whatever it is they love, he goes to that, meet me, meets them where they are.”
