Kansas City man had no idea his three friends were dead in his backyard

The attorney for a Kansas City man says his client had no idea three friends were dead behind his home until police knocked on his door.

Jordan Willis and his three friends gathered at Willis’ house to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play the Los Angeles Chargers on Jan. 7.

After the game, Willis claims he waved goodbye to his friends as they walked to their cars.

Willis said he crashed on the couch before later going to bed. He claims the three men returned to his property sometime that evening, and went outside.

Police say the three friends were found frozen to death in the backyard of Willis’ house on January 9.

One man’s body was found on the back porch, while the other two bodies were found in the backyard, police said.

Willis, who works from home, insists he spent two days in his house and did not go outside.

However, family members of one of the deceased men says Willis’ story is not adding up.

They insist Willis saw the posts about his missing friends on Facebook.

“They were all hanging out since after the game Sunday. He KNEW people were looking for them. He read messages of people searching for him on Tuesday,” Kaylee La Tier wrote in a Facebook post.

La Tier said her husband and a friend went over to the house and found cars belonging to the men parked outside Willis’ home.

They banged on the door and even broke a window – but Willis never came out.

“My husband banged on his door for 20 [minutes],” La Tier wrote. “My friend banged on his door and then busted a window and yelled and announced her presence while she’s inside and still nothing from him? Then the cops come 10 [minutes] later and he comes out nonchalant in his boxers with an empty wine glass in hand??! Nothing is adding up. Dave, Clay and Ricky need and deserve justice.”

The attorney said Willis didn’t hear the commotion (banging and glass breaking) because he sleeps with headphones on and a “loud fan” in his room.

The attorney said it wasn’t unusual for his three friends to leave their cars parked outside his home for days.

“Like the rest of us, [Willis] is anxiously awaiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology report,” the lawyer told The Kansas City Star.

Willis has since moved out of the house as the investigation into the deaths continues.
