Fani Willis says she’s the only DA in the U.S. with the ‘courage’ to prosecute Trump

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis says she’s the only DA in the entire U.S. with the “courage” to prosecute former President Trump for election interference.

Willis spoke with FOX 5 Atlanta at an Easter event for families of need in College Park, Ga. on Saturday.

“There’s one district attorney in the state – and really around the country – that has had the courage to do this, and she continues to do it,” Willis said. “The case landed in Fulton County, not by anything that I did, but by the actions of others, and when a case lands in my jurisdiction, I’m going to prosecute it, and that’s the end of that.”

Willis said she enjoys the support of her church and the community who encourage her efforts to get Trump.

She told CNN on Saturday “The train is coming” for Trump and his co-defendants.

Willis survived an attempt to disqualify her from the RICO case.

“While that was going on, we were writing responsive briefs, we were still doing the case in a way that it needed to be done. I don’t feel like we’ve been slowed down at all. I do think there are efforts to slow down this train, but the train is coming,” she said.

“We’re not going to miss or skip a beat because of all the noise or distraction on one case. We’re going to continue to do our work,” Willis added.

The Georgia Court of Appeals is reviewing Judge Scott McAfee’s decision not to disqualify Willis. The judge ordered Willis to either step down or fire her boyfriend, former special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Wade stepped down on March 15, allowing the RICO case to move forward.

Despite several ongoing investigations and an ethics complaint filed against her with the Georgia bar, Willis remains optimistic.

She acknowledged that Trump may not go to trial before the November elections. Her request for an August trial date for Trump was rejected. But she will file another request for that trial date.

“We may ask for that date again,” she said, “but we do understand a case has to go through the steps and go through the process.”
